I found this excellent article which speaks to a lot of the research I am doing presently. In this article the discussion focuses on the very technology I am looking at, embedding document capture applications within hardware devices like MFD’s (Multi-function Devices) and document scanners. The article serves as a simple overview of the present investment strategies of the top players like RICOH and Canon are involved in to make our present day MFD’s easier to use by creating a clever graphical UI to push documents through document workflows and line-of-business applications. Unfortunately, there is no new news for me here personally, but I enjoy reading articles about this emerging technology as it affirms new wave of document capture and integration I am seeing everyday.
